The BYU Electrical and Computer Engineering Department mourns the passing of Vernon Y. Jensen, who died peacefully in December 2025. Vernon served for many years as an adjunct professor in the department, where he was especially well known for his long-standing dedication to the senior design course and to mentoring generations of BYU students.
After a distinguished career as an electrical engineer in industry, Vernon brought deep practical insight, patience, and genuine care for students to his teaching at BYU. The department is grateful for his 13 years of devoted service and the lasting impact he had on students through his guidance, encouragement, and love of teaching.
A Celebration of Life will be held next month in Utah. The department extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and appreciation for his dedication to students at BYU.
