Preston Manwaring

Associate Professor
Faculty

Office: 450Q EB

Dr. Manwaring received BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Brigham Young University and a PhD in Engineering Sciences with a focus on Biomedical Engineering from Dartmouth College. His early academic research focused on human disease monitoring and diagnostics for hydrocephalus, breast cancer, and traumatic brain injury.

He left academia to pursue work in the MedTech industry for thirteen years. His work included a startup in advanced surgical energy, consulting, contracting, and finally as a senior principal engineer at Johnson and Johnson MedTech (Ethicon) where he worked on advanced visualization technologies for manual and robotic surgery.

His current research interests are in diagnostic tools for healthcare with a focus on low- and middle-income (LMIC) countries. This includes medical technologies for effective disease diagnosis and/or treatment, improving health care delivery, and medical device security.
