Another Successful Recruiting Dinner

Face-to-face interactions between students and recruiters can be a valuable time for students to discover their interest in working with certain companies and for recruiters to gauge how well the student could fit into their company. Because of this, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering holds a yearly recruiting dinner in conjunction with the STEM fair.

Nine companies were represented this year, including Fast Enterprises, Marvell, L3Harris, Intel, Rincon Research, NAVAIR, Raytheon, Sandia National Laboratories, and IM Flash/Micron. Representing those companies were 28 recruiters.

Dr. Jeff Goeders headed the event. Of it, he said, “Companies each hosted a table of students during the dinner and then all the companies introduced themselves and had a brief presentation. After that, each of the companies hosts an infosession and the students rotate around and then the last 45-minutes is just a free-for-all where they can go to all the different companies. Students often bring resumes and try to line up job interviews.”

Around 220 students and their spouses attended the event. Overall the students and recruiters were happy with the event.

“It was great. There were big line-ups. The students were really interested in the companies and the companies were really interested in our students, which is good. Talking to the companies after, a lot of them had filled up their interview slots,” Dr. Goeders said.
