Tom Wall, one of our department’s PhD students, won 3rd place in the University wide 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. He had earlier won 1st place in our department and college level competitions. His prize for third at the university was $1000. The title of his 3 minute talk was “Multiplexed Single Bioparticle Detection on a Chip” and he described his work to build an optical sensor on a silicon chip that can detect disease.
