
Prof. Yaakov Bar Shalom, Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor and Marianne E. Klewin Professor in Engineering Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Connecticut, delivered the first Department Colloquium talk on 1 May 2014.
Faculty and students from across campus (70 in total) attended the talk, entitled Target Tracking and Data Fusion: How to Get the Most Out of Your Sensors. His talk focused on the issues related to information extraction and data fusion from multiple sensors. He explained that the goal of extracting the maximum possible amount of information from each sensor requires the use of appropriate sensor and target models. In these models one has to quantify the corresponding uncertainties. The issues related to data association and multiple target behavior models were discussed together with some practical algorihms and their implementations for Low Observable targets.
