Fall 2023 Starts Strong for ECE Students

Fall 2023 is underway! So much has been happening in the department, and we hope everyone has been able to find a club, an activity, a competition, or an event that has helped you feel welcome and wanted in the department. Here are highlights from just a few events so far:

IEEE Barbecue
The IEEE barbecue on 9/13 had a great turnout. The barbecue featured food and games for Electrical and Computer engineering students, faculty, alumni, and friends. Special thanks goes out to Amanda Boden and the student secretaries of the department as well as Randy Beard and the IEEE student branch for putting on a great event!

New Student Orientation
This year’s New Student Orientation showcased many interactive demos of projects in Electrical and Computer Engineering. These demo booths ranged from a robotic hand that copies your own motion to a light-following robot car! To many students' delight, one booth even boasted a seven-segment display where students could play games like Tetris or Doom.

Recruiting Dinner
Job-seeking students and recruiters from ECE's top employers joined for dinner and company presentations. Students were able to get to know the companies better, and recruiters had the opportunity to meet with students in smaller groups, providing better opportunities to connect vs. fighting the crowds at the STEM Fair. Special thanks to Albert Tay and Amanda Boden for making this such an enjoyable and successful event!
