I graduated with an EE degree from BYU in 2000. I worked for IBM in Tucson, Arizona for 6 years in the roles of a hardware prototype test engineer, a signal processing engineer, and then a firmware engineer. I then took a job at Raytheon Missile Systems where had various software, firmware, data analysis, and signal processing roles. In 2011, I moved back to Utah and took a job at Code Corporation as a firmware engineer. In 2018, I became the manager of the firmware team at Code Corporation. I now have an amazing team of 7 firmware engineers and one test automation engineer. I work daily with all types of engineers (manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, software, etc.). I'm involved in all aspects of the hardware design cycle from product concept to manufacturing of barcode readers and other handheld electronics. These products are used in healthcare, retail, industrial, and other markets. All of our products involve imagers, enabling them to read 2D barcodes (such as data matrix and QR codes).
