ECE Opening Social at Kiwanis Park

Student BBQ

This past week the IEEE student branch helped host the opening social event for the students, faculty, and families of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Taking place at Kiwanis Park, over 350 people came together to socialize and become familiar with others in the program. Delicious barbecue and treats were provided, and everyone left will full stomachs. The heat was intense, but pavilions and trees provided relief for all who came.

This IEEE club activity, advised by Dr. Randy Beard, was filled with entertainment, laughs, and celebrations. Students competed against each other in games on the lawn, and families rooted for their ECE family members to win. Everyone in attendance was able to participate in group games and cheer each other on. A raffle was also held for the Program’s members, and many cheerfully walked away with some great prizes. These games and entertainment were a highlight of the event and combined with the amazing food, the atmosphere was set for an amazing evening.

The sight at Kiwanis Park was spectacular. Alumni of the program, faculty members, as well as families all shared an evening together. The strong community surrounding the ECE program was on full display, and it was special to witness the connection and bonds that these people had with one another. With the first ECE event of the Fall semester underway, we’re all looking forward to an exciting year filled with growth, learning, and inspiration.
