Unique Environment

Located in beautiful Provo, Utah, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Brigham Young University is composed of 24 faculty and approximately 100 graduate students actively engaged in leading-edge research. Advanced study takes place in the unique university environment sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The graduate program is nationally ranked and offers competitive master’s and doctoral programs in electrical and computer engineering.

World-Class Facilities

In support of its research mission, the department hosts a number of world-class laboratories, rooftop antenna arrays, a class 10 cleanroom, electrical shop, collaborative graduate student workspace, as well as teaching and computational facilities. Research funding ranges from $3 to $4 million each year and supports a broad array of research projects.

Student Support

  • Many graduate students receive support through teaching or research assistantships.
  • Fellowships are available for top students.

Exciting Research

The department’s current research includes analog circuits, biomedical imaging and devices, communication, computer architecture, configurable computing, micro air vehicles, microfabricated devices, optics, radio astronomy, remote sensing, robotics, signal processing, and telemetry.

Faculty Interaction

Graduate students come from many countries. The small student-to-faculty ratio allows students to work directly with individual faculty members.
