Magic in the Air: The BYU Amateur Radio Club
Real-life applications of engineering principles are all around, even in unexpected activities. Amateur (or ham) radios are one of those applications. The BYU Ham Radio Club includes several electrical and computer engineering students who have found interest in amateur radio and the engineering principles that play an integral part in the radios’ function.
Recent Alumni Meetings in Colorado
One of the great resources available to BYU Electrical and Computer Engineering students is a wide network of alumni who are willing to help them with their academic and professional careers. In part, this network is due to the connections made by dedicated professors to former ECE students.
Recent BYU Grad Improves Avionics at L3Harris
Sean Crawford, a recent graduate of the BYU Electrical Engineering program, was offered a position at L3Harris in Waco, Texas. According to a June 2019 press release, L3Harris was awarded $499 million “to design, produce, and certify a state-of-the-art modernization solution for a fleet of 176 Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve C-130H aircraft to improve aircraft availability, reliability and sustainability.” Crawford was hired to work on the avionics of these aircrafts.
