BYU’s Chip Camp doubles for year two
When you hear 'Chip Camp,' you might think of a weekend getaway fueled by Doritos. But for more than 100 7th and 8th graders, Chip Camp has nothing to do with cheetle (the orange, powdery residue left on your fingers after eating Cheetos).

ECE Students Light up BYU’s Drumline
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department was recently asked by BYU’s Marching Band to help add a high tech element to their performances. A group of students led by senior Trevor Decker used LED light strips, a pressure sensor, control circuitry, and a hefty rechargeable battery to add dynamic light effects to the band’s drumline. Each drum was equipped with its own circuit which activated the bank of lights in response to a drumstick strike. The drums are capable of flashing in multiple colors using a switch on the side of the drum body, but during the official homecoming unveiling, only blue was used.

Prof. Warnick Contributes to a New IEEE Standard for Antenna Terms
Dr. Warnick and Dr. Brian Jeffs in the ECEn Department began working nearly ten years ago in the area of array antennas for radio astronomy instruments. This work was supported by several million dollars in funding from the National Science Foundation, and led to developments like the most sensitive cryogenic phased array receiver ever demonstrated. This system was tested on world-class radio telescopes at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, WV and the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico.
